I watched this film the other day and I recommend it for anyone who wants to see something different.
At the beginning I wasn’t sure what’s about as the trailer is very vague, full of action and thrill.
But then a few minutes in the movie you get the idea of what’s about and it describes so good and accurate in my opinion how it was like for the Native American people to feel when they were invaded and taken over.
It says it’s based on a true story, I’m not sure how that would be true as there are not so many records of that period, but will give it a pass.
I’ve watched other films of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and he’s famous I would say for the way he dramatizes his movies, the cruel reality he projects and the great visual details he inserts while filming.
This is a full on roller coaster ride like with great acting from Tom Hardy and especially Leonardo DiCaprio, who never seems to fail me.
And regarding his acting skills, the Academy is doing him a favor for not awarding him the Oscar, because this way he excels and becomes even more amazing with every film he makes.
In this one he’s crawling a lot and I was making a joke with my friend that in order for him to win that God damn award he would have to crawl much more in many more films. It’s a shame really, he’s a great actor, but this is the way he’s showing them the finger, by making a better role with each film.
The movie is about faith, love, betrayal, survival and the great courage of one man to keep fighting against all odds in the face of all God’s challenges.
It looks like a film hard to make giving the weather conditions and all and that makes it even more easier to appreciate.
I would suggest that if you haven’t watched it yet, go ahead and do it.
You’ll see something else, like it’s a different ball game. Worth it!
